CHED Scholarship 2024: Requirements and Application Links

CHED Scholarship 2024-2025 online application is now open for all college students in the Philippines. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has launched its CHED Merit Scholarship Program (CMSP) for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The CHED Merit Scholarship Program for the 2024-2025 academic year is available to incoming first-year college students pursuing undergraduate studies in CHED-recognized priority programs at private HEIs, SUCs, and LUCs.

What is CHED Scholarship 2024?

The CHED Merit Scholarship Program (CMSP) is a government-funded scholarship opportunity. The aim of the CHED Scholarship is to support academically talented students, particularly those who belong to the following specific groups:

  • Underprivileged and homeless citizens (RA 7279);
  • Persons with Disability (RA 7277); and
  • Solo parents and/or their dependents (RA 8371).

All qualified incoming freshmen may apply for the CHED Merit Scholarship. CHED students get full or partial scholarships through the State Scholarship and Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA) programs. Assistance may include tuition and other costs, as well as a monthly stipend for living expenses.

A total of 1,374 slots are open for students to apply for the CHED Scholarship 2024.

Benefits of the CHED Merit Scholarship?

A CHED Scholar will receive the following benefits:

  • Tuition and other school fees (TOSF)
  • Stipend per semester
  • Book/Connectivity allowance

The stipend will be released directly to the scholars or through HEIs. The book/connectivity allowance will be provided each semester of the academic year until the completion of the degree program.

Additionally, financial assistance is available for students attending private HEIs.

Eligibility for the CHED Scholarship

To apply for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following qualifications and criteria:

  • Must be a Filipino citizen
  • Must be a graduating high school student or a high school graduate with a general weighted average (GWA) of at least 96% for the Full Merit Program, or 93% to 95% (or its equivalent) for the Half Merit Program
  • Must be a student-applicant belonging to special groups such as the underprivileged and homeless citizens (RA No. 7279), persons with disabilities (PWDs) (RA No. 7277 as amended), or solo parents and/or their dependents (RA No. 8371). Relevant certifications or identification cards issued by the appropriate offices or agencies must be submitted.
  • Must avail of only one government-funded financial assistance program
  • Must enroll in one of the courses listed in the CHED Priority Programs

Documentary Requirements

To apply for the CHED Merit Scholarship, the following documents are required:

  1. Proof of Citizenship: Certified true copy of Birth Certificate
  2. Academic Requirements:
    • High school report card for incoming freshmen students eligible for college
    • Duly certified true copy of grades for Grade 11 and the first semester of Grade 12 for graduating high school students
  3. Income Requirements (whichever is available)
    • Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of parents or guardian
    • Certificate of Tax Exemption from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
    • Certificate of Indigence from their Barangay or the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
    • Case Study report from DSWD
    • Latest copy of contract or proof of income for children of Overseas Filipino Workers and seafarers
  4. Other Requirement: Identification Card (ID) for Special Groups (e.g., Underprivileged or Homeless, PWD, Solo Parent, Senior Citizen, Indigenous People)

CHED Scholarship Application Period

The online application for the Scholarship starts on June 7, 2024, and the deadline for submission is July 15, 2024.
