The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Scholarship Programs are now open. OWWA recently announced on Facebook that it is accepting applications for two scholarship programs.
The post explained the differences between the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and the OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (OFWDSP), both available for qualified dependents of OFWs. Here’s a detailed look at each program:
Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP)
OWWA EDSP Scholarship, provides financial support to qualified dependents or siblings of single active OWWA members.
Scholarship Benefits:
EDSP program offers Php 60,000 per school year until the completion of a four to five-year baccalaureate course.
Number of Slots Available
The OWWA EDSP Scholarship offers a total of 1600 Slots.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be single
- For incoming first-year college students not more than 21 years old
- For second to fifth-year college students not more than 30 years old
- Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a Philippine-based college or university
- Grade 12 graduating students must have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 80% or its equivalent
- College students already enrolled (2nd to 5th year) must have a GWA of at least a B letter grade or 85%
OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (ODSP)
OWWA ODSP Scholarship, supports qualified dependents or siblings of single active OWWA members.
Scholarship Benefits:
ODSP program offers Php 20,000 per school year until the completion of a four to five-year baccalaureate course.
Number of Slots Available
The OWWA ODSP Scholarship offers a total of 2,500 slots.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be single
- For incoming first-year college students not more than 21 years old
- For second to fifth-year college students not more than 30 years old
- Must be enrolled in a Philippine-based college or university
- Qualified dependents of OFWs earning less than USD 600 per month
- Must not be receiving any other scholarships
Documentary Requirements
- Proof of identity
- Proof of grades from the previous school year
- Photocopy of birth certificate
- 2 x 2 ID picture with name tags (2 pieces)
- Photocopy of Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR)
- Original copy of Affidavit of No Child/Sibling Dependent
- Photocopy of proof of enrollment
Application Period:
The application link and procedure will be released on July 26, 2024, and applications will be accepted until August 16, 2024.
